The Dry Season: April to October
The dry season runs from April to October and is widely considered the best time to visit Labuan Bajo. During these months, rainfall is minimal, skies are mostly clear, and sea conditions are generally calm — ideal for boat trips, diving, snorkeling, and island trekking. Temperatures hover between 27 and 33 degrees Celsius, with refreshing sea breezes keeping conditions comfortable.
Peak season falls between July and September, when visitor numbers are at their highest. This is the school holiday period for many European, Australian, and American travelers, making it a popular time for family holidays and group tours. Manta Ray Season: The Highlight of Dry Season

The Wet Season: November to March
The wet season brings afternoon rain showers, higher humidity, and occasionally rough sea conditions. However, it also brings significantly fewer tourists, lower prices for accommodation and tours, and a lush, green landscape that makes for dramatic photography. The seas can be more challenging during this period, particularly in January and February when swells are strongest, so longer Phinisi trips may not always be advisable.
November, March, and early April are considered shoulder months — a good compromise between good weather and manageable crowd levels. Many experienced travelers specifically target these months for a more intimate experience of the area. Diving is still excellent during the wet season at many sites, and certain species like whale sharks may be more commonly spotted.
