Dragon sightings are extremely reliable here — the ranger station at Loh Buaya is consistently surrounded by dragons that gather near the kitchen area. It is not unusual to see 10 or more dragons within the first few minutes of your trek, making Rinca especially satisfying for wildlife photography.
The trekking trails on Rinca are excellent and varied. The short circuit takes around 30 minutes and almost guarantees dragon sightings near the station, while the medium and long routes take you through savannah, mangroves, and hilltops with sweeping views. Rinca also has a resident population of macaques, water buffalo, deer, and wild pigs.
